Belhaven Bridge Star Trails during Northern Lights Aurora Borealis alert
Saturday 5th May 2018 . There was an amber alert for possible Aurora Borealis, Northern Lights. Sky was clear so I headed to Belhaven Bridge just after sunset.
The bright light from a lamppost at far end of carpark was a bit of a pest but I carried on with my aim.
The three shots show how the stars move around the Pole Star (North Star) during the night. The Pole star remains in place as all the other stars move circular round it.
The three images on display here are made up of a series of images taken one after another. Camera remains static on a tripod.
First image is made up of a series of images over 45 minutes just after sunset.
Second image is made up of images taken over a 50 minute period .
Third image is made up of images taken over a 60 minutes period .
During taking the images for third image, a low display of the Aurora Borealis, Northern Lights was visible. I stayed of a bit longer but display died off.
