I have had this location in mind for a while now. You see this view when driving on the A720 Edinburgh City Bypass westbound. I wanted to be in the field between Straiton and Lothianburn junctions. Had to be early summer morning to get the sun shining on the ski slope area with a blue sky. I found a way in from near the former Lothianburn Golf Club. A couple of farmer's gates climbed and I was in the field. I watched weather forecast. There was a window of clouds clearing to a blue sky for 2 hours maximum . I got up at 6am and got myself into position. By 8am I was done. Shortly after this, the cloud levels took over the sky. For the last images. I added my Lee "Mist" filter to the lens.
