I was thrilled to have a Photographer's Media Pass to photograph the Tattoo for a vantage point on The Edinburgh Castle Esplanade on 8th August 2022. Wonderful to be able to photograph it all. See that page on the link here. One part I missed that evening was the Performers marching down Castle Hill at the end of the Tattoo. I visited on another evening and stood by the barriers at the foot of Edinburgh Castle Hill. Well worth doing this. Low lighting was a real challenge. I used my Canon 1dx MkII Camera which deals with low light well. Also my Canon 70 – 200 f2.8 L IS II USM lens to maximise light into the lens and camera. I set the camera to manual. f2.8 aperture and a shutter speed of 1/200 second. I still had to bump the ISO up to 12,800 on the camera. It does lead to grain in the photos.
