Tuesday 29th March 2022 - I spent about 8 hours in Ron McCombe's terrific wildlife hide in Scottish Borders. Ron has set it up to bring European Badgers to the area. Takes patience as badgers can come at any time. Their sense of hearing is acute so you have to keep very still and quiet. Well worth contacting Ron McCombe and booking a slot. Or in his wildbirds hide. Both hides are heated and Ron gives very useful photography assistance.
Badgers came to the area , about 20 metres from me, about three times during the eight hours. Visits were slow, possibly due to the heavy rain. At times I could see two badgers hiding in the hedge from the rain. By the time I finished at 5am it was snowing.
Ron now has a reflection pool
right in front of the photography hide. Badgers are showing an interest in it. Will make for super photographs with badger's reflection in the water.
There is also a large hollow log that the badgers are coming through.
For this visit. I used my Canon 1dx MkII Camera. Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 L IS II USM Lens
