Joe Gilhooley LRPS   European Badgers   Badgers at Reflection Pool   See also general badger images Tuesday 11th July 2023 I spent over 4 hours in Ron McCombe's terrific wildlife hide in Scottish Borders. Ron has set it up to bring European Badgers to the area. Takes patience as badgers can come at any time. Their sense of hearing is acute so you have to keep very still and quiet. Well worth contacting Ron McCombe and booking a slot. Or in his wildbirds hide. Both hides are heated and Ron gives very useful photography assistance. With in being early July , there was less hours of darkness and it was not cold. This year's cubs are coming to the area as are adult badgers. Ron has a reflection pool right in front of the photography hide. Badgers are showing an interest in it, makes super photographs with badger's reflection in the water. See also general badger images. I was thrilled when the badgers came to the pool and I got my most wanted Badger Reflections. For this visit. I used my Canon 1dx MkII Camera. Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 L IS II USM Lens. Sometimes at reflection pool, the 100-400 lens was back at 200mm. I use minus one stop exposure compensation so not to burn out the white on badger's face. I took over 300 badgers photos and kept many at The Reflection Pool. 16 on this page. All are uncropped and as from camera.
